Mad Hippie Skincare Review (Vegan and Cruelty-Free Clean Beauty Brand)
People get into a mad hype about Mad Hippie - is that enthusiastic reaction to the brand worth it?
Mad Hippie is a vegan skincare brand formed by two self-proclaimed ‘Hippies’ - Sam and Dana. Inspired (and spurned on) by their time spent in Central America, the couple created a brand which does as good for the skin, as it does for the world. ‘Sustainability’ and ‘giving back’ are at the core of their values. In fact, $1.00 from each sale online goes towards conservation… So, go ahead: Splurge, baby!
So, that’s lovely… But do the products work? I put a full routine of Mad Hippie beauty products to the test, and I’ve detailed all of my thoughts below!
This review is unbiased, unsponsored, and unabashedly honest.
Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum
Chances are, if there is one product from Mad Hippie of which you are aware, it’s their award-winning Vitamin C Serum.
This potent serum is jam-packed with ingredients that help the star of the show - Vitaminn C (in this case, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) - truly do it’s magic. Ferulic Acid, Chamomile Extract, and Konjac Root work together to protect and provide for the skin.
I must say, this serum is really wonderful. Vitamin C is an ingredient that I adore in my skincare routine, and this formula really utilizes it to the best of its ability. After initial use, there is a satisfying ‘tightening’ effect. As well, with consistent use, I haveI absolutely noticed my acne scars diminishing.
If you like Vitamin C, or want a non-irritating version to add to your routine, definitely give this one a try!
Star Ingredients: Vitamin C… duh (brightening), Ferulic Acid (antioxidant), Konjac Root (softening and smoothing)

Mad Hippie Face Cream
Another award winning Mad Hippie product is their OG Face Cream.
This lightweight moisturizer is easy to apply, and features a subtle-yet-pleasant scent, with floral notes.
The texture is soft and gentle. The pump on this particular product works really well, and one full pump is enough to cover my entire face. I like that it doesn’t have a ‘squirt and blurt’ pump, so it’s easy to control how much comes out if you require a bit more/less.
This particular ream is great for everyday use, especially in the morning. I will say, I prefer a thicker cream at night, and in the winter, so be mindful of that if you have drier skin. It is easy to blend, and makeup and SPF layer on top of it effortlessly.
My only complaint is that it is quite small, so you run out fairly quickly. I wish a bigger size was an available option!
Overall, great everyday product for most skin types!

Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream
If Vitamin C is a must-use ingredient for you (and it is a must-use ingredient for me), this cream is a potent source of the powerhouse ingredient.
This cream in prticular targets skin discolouration and scarring. Personally, I have acne scarring, and it has helped to brighten it over time.
The texture is thick, yet very smooth and easy to apply. The formula is instantly firming on the skin, in a comfortable way.
The one downside is the scent. The smell is a bit funky. I don’t personally enjoy it, but I am able to overlook it due to the firming aand brightening effects. If you consider scent a priority in your skincare, perhaps skip this one.
The cream also comes with a spoon in order to scoop it out, but I personally prefer metal scoopers. It isn’t a major selling point to me.
Overall, if you can excuse the scent, this is a great night cream!

Mad Hippie Eye Cream
If you want an affordable vegan eye cream, this is the one.
Packed full of vitamins and extracts - Vitamin C, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, phytosterols… - this eye cream delivers hydrating and polishing benefits to the eye area.
What I like most about the Mad Hippie Eye Cream is the texture. It’s very easy to blend. Despite the seemingly small size of the bottle, it spreads really well, so a little bit of product goes a long way. Considering the affordability for a clean and vegan product, this is fantastic in my book.
The one thing I dislike is the packaging. It has a pump, which in my case, was faulty. It jammed a few times, and was a bit testy overall. However, I did read that the company will faze out the pump mechanism for bioresin tubes in the future… So there’s hope!
Overall, this is a relatively cheap eye cream considering the benefits it provides!
Star Ingredients: Niacinamide (Vitamin B), Kakadu Plum (Vitamin C), Hesperidin (reduces dark circles)

Mad Hippie Cleansing Oil
Mad Hippie’s Cleansing Oil is a antixodiant-rich liquid that helps break down even stubborn waterproof makeup.
While it does work to break down products, my issue is that it doesn’t rub off easily. The oil leaves a thick residue on the skin while washing, and even when using a muslin cloth, ittakes a bit more time to take off than other cleansing oils I’ve tried.
In general, while I love the ingredients in the product, it just didn’t work well enough for me to enjoy using it on a daily basis.

Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist
The Mad Hippie Nutrient Mist is the company’s alternative to a toner.
Sprayed directly after cleansing the skin, this mist brings back all the goodies your skin requires after a deep clean, while providing extra benefits.
The spray mechanism on the bottle is more of a gentle mist, rather than a harsh spurt of liquid (good). The scent is light, and rather floral. It’s very pleasant, and definitely ticks my ‘aromatherapy in a bottle’ box.
One thing I appreciate about this mist is that it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I am able to apply a generous layer (and reapply thought the day) without any worry of redness or itchiness.
I personally enjoy using this spray in conjunction with the Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum. It doubles the Vitamin C, and therefore doubles the fun. Highly recommended!
