Best Matcha Lattes/ Matcha in Tokyo
I love matcha lattes. There’s no denying that the best ones you could possibly order would be in Japan. Here are my picks for the best ones to try in Tokyo!
StReamers Coffee Company
Streamer Coffee Company has numerous locations all over Tokyo, and with good reason. Their coffees are made with care, and they have unique speciality drinks. One of their best? Their matcha latte with white chocolate!
The barista properly prepared the matcha beforehand with a whisk, before adding in the milk and white chocolate. They use high-quality ingredients, and it shows. I really, really loved this drink, and it’s one among the top 10 matcha lattes I’ve ever tried (I’m also a sucker for white chocolate, so that helped).
In terms of the ambiance, Streamer Coffee Company is definitely hipster heaven. It’s un-ironically trendy, and it definitely has an industrial vibe. The location in Harajuku had a few clothing items and art for sale, which were displayed throughout the café. I felt a lot cooler than I actually am just sitting in there (if you want proof, just look at the photos of me doing extreme posing below 😂).
Streamer is very work-friendly, and their are a number of outlets available in which to plug your electronics. Overall, a great café, and the matcha latte is definitely a matcha made in heaven (#sorrynotsorry).

Deus Café Harajuku (Deus Ex Machina)
Part motorcycle shop/ part clothing stop/ part coffee shop, Deus Ex Machina definitely adds a unique touch to Harajuku. Even if you’re not in the mood for a drink, the gallery in the basement and the clothing/ motorcycle shops throughout the building make it an interesting place to visit.
In terms of the matcha lattes, Deus creates a well-made product that’s full of flavour, and that looks cute, to boot! I mean, just look at that bunny! Their matcha latte was incredibly flavourful, and genuinely tasted of matcha. It was clearly well made.
In the café itself, there were a lot of foreigners from Australia and France who were eating hearty looking brunch-style food (toast, eggs, etc…).
Deus Ex Machina is a great place to pop by after a busy day shopping on Takeshita-dori.
