Le Bar à Vin - Best Wine Bar in Bordeaux
One cannot mention the word “Bordeaux” without conjuring up thoughts of decadent wine.
La cité du vin has been making wine since the 8th century, so it’s not surprising that it is one of major growers and producers of wine in the world. To this day, the wine economy in the Bordeaux region rakes in up to 14.5 billions euros annually.
As Bordeaux takes it’s wine seriously, it’s not difficult to find a good glass when visiting the region. However, when I visited, I was not on a mission just to have a “good” glass. I wanted a great glass. After sampling some different wine bars, one stood out for it’s gastronomical and economical value: Le Bar à Vin.
Located just a short walk away from the Girondins Monument (Monument aux Girondins), this bar possesses some of the best quality wines at an affordable price in the area. You can get a glass of a fruity rosé or bold red for as low as €2.00 a glass.
Le Bar à Vin also has a few options for you to nibble on with your wine. I opted for one of the cheese platters that was recommended to accompany the rosé I chose, and I was not disappointed! There are charcuterie boards as well for those interested.
The design of the bar itself is also worth noting. The smartly decorated interior features lots of artwork on the walls, and has very interesting tables and chairs. The servers themselves are also very knowledgable about the wine they are selling, and are very accommodating when it comes to making suggestions on what to drink/ what food to pair with your glass.
Le Bar à Vin is a great place to check out in Bordeaux if you’re looking for an affordable glass of wine and some snacks to share with friends. The design of the space itself is smart, chic, and makes drinking €2.00 glasses of wine feel positively high-end and posh!
Merci d’avoir lu, mes jolies!
